MidState Medical Center Midstate Radiology Associates L.L.C.

MidState Radiology (MSMC) has two separate RISs: one at the hospital and one for the Radiology group’s offices. We needed a flexible HL7 interface engine along with several custom HL7 interfaces. In particular, we needed an HL7 messaging solution for the following:

1. MedQuist SpeechQ integration to send and update patient registrationrecords and receive completed reports.
2. Sectra PACS integration to support registration and reporting.
3. Integration with a new Mammography Reporting System (MRS) to supportregistration and reporting.

MSMC decided to evaluate open source HL7 messaging systems because we believe open source provides a sound and cost-effective alternative to proprietary solutions. After evaluating other messaging systems and the cost of developing our own solution, we selected Mirth because it is a full-featured, reliable, and easy-to-use tool.

We purchased WebReach’s JumpStart package which includes interface engineering, training, and commercial support. WebReach’s Mirth team created a robust and cost-effective solution based on Mirth for our integration problems.

MidState had an aggressive schedule and WebReach delivered a working solution, requirements and interface documentation, and commercial support under our deadline. WebReach’s performance and support exceeded our expectations.

Mirth also exceeded our expectations. We were trying to get familiar with HL7 and develop an in-house connectivity solution. WebReach and Mirth helped us with these issues so that we could focus on other pressing IT matters in our company.

We have been in production for over a month with no problems. MSMC recommends Mirth and WebReach for the development and support of HL7 messaging solutions.
