WebReach Introduces Mirth 1.4

WebReach, Inc. Introduces Mirth 1.4, Delivering HL7 V3 and X12 Healthcare Messaging

Momentum grows for open source interface engine as it achieves 10,000 downloads

Irvine, Calif., March 22, 2007—WebReach, Inc., a leading healthcare IT consultancy and creator of open source Health IT solutions, today announced the open source release of Mirth 1.4. Mirth is the fastest-growing healthcare messaging platform and the latest release offers powerful new functionality for HL7 V3 messaging, X12 documents, and intelligent alerting. Mirth delivers robust HIT middleware capabilities in a lightweight open source package, providing an alternative to costly proprietary and in-house systems.

Mirth is specifically designed to connect communities of healthcare professionals for exchanging patient-specific information, such as laboratory results and medical records. Mirth employs widely accepted, standards-based healthcare messaging protocols and facilitates the rapid, secure, and flexible deployment of connectivity solutions. Mirth also speeds the development of interfaces for secure exchange of data across formats – for example, from HL7 to XML or vice versa – reducing barriers to the formation of health information exchanges involving diverse information systems, and advancing initiatives aimed at improving patient safety, continuity of care, and biosurveillance.

Mirth 1.4 marks the fourth major release for the software in one year. Since that time, Mirth has been downloaded over 10,000 times and is gaining traction and momentum as the demand for cost-effective HIT messaging solutions increases globally. Mirth is already in numerous production laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, hospital and other HIT systems.

“Mirth 1.4 provides a deep healthcare messaging feature set without the complexity or cost of other systems,” said Gerald Bortis, Mirth’s Lead Developer. “In this release we focused on building out support for messaging standards and a flexible monitoring and alerting subsystem. In 2007, we will add a number of exciting new capabilities to the Mirth platform.”
